Musk: Future robots, AI will eliminate mandatory work entirely. - thetatva - 27-05-2024

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, predicted that traditional jobs might eventually become optional rather than necessary.

"Long-term, in an ideal scenario, any job someone does will be by choice," Musk said during a virtual session at the annual technology conference VivaTech.

"If you want to work as a hobby, you can, but otherwise AI and robots will provide any goods and services you need," he added.

In the future Musk envisions, AI and robots will take over most production and service tasks, freeing people from the need to work to earn a living.

This vision is particularly relevant given Musk's involvement in advancing AI and robotics technology. Significant progress in this field can be seen in XAI’s Grok project and Tesla’s Optimus robot.

Tesla's Optimus Robot

The advanced humanoid robot, Optimus, is being developed by Tesla to perform dangerous and repetitive tasks. It has the potential to revolutionize industries such as healthcare and manufacturing by enhancing safety and productivity, aligning with Musk's vision of a future where robots handle most labor-intensive jobs.

XAI's Grok

Meanwhile, XAI is focused on developing AI with its project Grok, aimed at accelerating human scientific discovery through advanced artificial intelligence.
